Ancient Rome

ROME.
By around 200, 000 years ago, there were a few people living in Italy.
More Homo Erectus people, Neanderthals, lived near Rome around 100,000 years ago. There was a big change about 5000 BC when Neolithic  people arrived in Italy.
By 3500 BC, the neolithic people had gradually spread into northern italy. Some of them settle near Rome.
By 3000 BC, they began trading for small pieces of metal.
Philosophy.-
-Roman society didnt begin studiyng until about 200 BC.
One of the first romans who start writing philosophy was Lucretius. He followed greek epicurean philosophy, he made a long poem called On the nature of things, that explains epicurean philosophy.
Another important philosopher was Cicero, he was mostly a skeptic pjilosopher.
Economy
-Ancient rome had a vast area of land, with a lot of human and natural resources. Romes economy remained focused on farming and trade. By the 1st century BC vast grape and olive estates had supplanted the farmers.
One movie that has the history of Rome, was Gladiator. That movie tells us how was the culture of ancient rome. Tells us the sotry of Maximus, the way he lead his man to defeat the Germanic barbarians, ending in a long war.

Some stories or movies  of Ancient Rome:

          -The Story Keepers: is an animated series that takes place in ancient rome, at 64 AD
                                         It was produced by Shepherd Films Ltd.

          -   Coriolanus: Hero without a Country: is a historical drama film set in rome in 493 BC. Is an adaptation of the roman legend about the victories of rome over their enemies the volscians.
                                 The film was directed by Giorgio Ferroni.

         -Gladiator: is a historical epic movie. Maximus is betrayed by Commodus, and Maximus rises through the rank of the gladiatoral arena to revenge the murder of his family and his emperor.
                                 The film was directed by Ridley Scott.

          -300 : is an action film adapted from a graphic novel, also named 300 by  Frank Miller. A fictionalized retelling of the battle of Thermopylae.


- The relationship that this movies and stories have with ancient rome is the way they show us how ancient rome was. like for example all the battles, or the way of living. Also the most important characters of ancient rome. They show us also the development and different stages that they went through.
